There are some stories making the rounds about Rafa’s taxes. Most of the articles are in Spanish and mangle horribly, so I’m not sure I fully understand the situation. If the claims are true, it appears that Rafa and his father have taken advantage of some legal loopholes in the Spanish tax laws that have left a bad taste in the mouths of some people. The political party involved in questioning the tax situation (Bildu) is a Basque separatist group that was once banned due to their alleged ties to Batasuna, the alleged political wing of ETA. This could hint at political reasons for them bringing up the issue and, perhaps, the tone of Costa’s statements. (Thanks to Denizen for bringing this to my attention and Inés for pointing out the political situation.)
Update:
