Some bits and pieces about today’s match and aftermath.
Worries grow for troubled Andy Murray after defeat by Mardy Fish by Neil Harman
Nadal has played without a break since the first week in March; to lay down his arms for a few days will do him the power of good. He returns to England on Wednesday to pick up the threads again, four days of intense preparation for an assault on his eighth grand-slam title. This was his first defeat on grass since the Wimbledon final of 2007, his fans should not be too agitated.
It’s not all bad for Nadal after loss by Richard Evans
“No, I feel a little bit yesterday but I told you I would try to play and I did,” he said. “Seems like it’s nothing very important. I feel ready to come back at home and enjoy a little bit, watch all the family, watch all the friends, you know. Have some dinners with friends and maybe play some golf.”
Friday Feeling - from the tournament site.
The world No.1 comes into press, showered, and in a very dapper pink shirt. Look at the shine on that.
And he seems to be in a reasonably good mood.. “He played well. His serve was very good, his baseline very good slice, his forehand good, I just want to congratulate him, I wish him the best of luck to win the title. I think I played for moments very good tennis, I feel I am playing well, so that is positive. If you can play more, better, but hopefully it will be enough for me. My feeling was not bad today.
And most of all, he’s looking forward to a weekend at home… Since before Indian Wells I didn’t spend one weekend at home. I will watch family, friends, enjoy a little bit Majorca weather, maybe play some golf. I runned a lot, now is enough for me. Sometimes is worse to practice than no practice. Which I think means he is taking the weekend off. He certainly deserves it.
And he will be watching the football… World Cup I will be always watching. Always watching the football because it is my favourite sport. Safe journey home Rafa.
